The GRE General Test measures Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing.
- Format: Computer-delivered at a test center (or at home in eligible locations).
- Sections: Verbal (2 sections), Quant (2 sections), Analytical Writing (1 essay).
- Duration: About 1 hour 58 minutes.
- Scoring: Verbal 130–170; Quant 130–170; Analytical Writing 0–6.

- Available for Analytical Writing only.
- Fee: US$60.

Registration fees vary by country (commonly around US$220). Special-handling services include rescheduling (US$55) and changing your test center (US$55).

Cancel or reschedule at least 4 full days before your test date. Timely cancellations are eligible for a 50% refund of the test fee.
Rescheduling requires a fee (see Fees) and is subject to seat availability.
Missed tests or late cancellations aren’t eligible for refunds or reschedules.

Your test fee includes up to four free score recipients selected on test day. Additional score reports can be ordered anytime while scores are valid.
- Additional Score Reports: US$40 each.
- Official scores post in your ETS account about 8–10 days after test day.
